39

The 39 went missing
and found when they were gone.
Drowning in between the lights
as every day moves on.
When all of this is over
will they reveal the scars?
When staring at the ceiling
instead of shooting stars.
We stood like living statues,
fingers reaching for the sky.
In the spring of ’97
while they awaited heaven.
You were standing under street lights in your favorite winter coat.
The steamy smoke your exhales gave,
the cold air just enough to burn your throat.
In the sky memories fly,
that’s why they’ll never die.
The light was passing by,
aligned infinite life.
Don’t want to live forever
and mistaking the lights while fading away.
With fingers reaching for the sky;
will the lights ever pass us by once again?

Light Rays

The light rays struck a moment,
before your disease did.
A safe haven by the ivy,
where you would step and sink.
Made by your fathers hands.
When it’s cold,
We’ve got October blues in our blood carried on.
I’ve got that bleached and old polaroid carried on.
A summer Kodak moment,
before the falling leaves.
A glow about to burn out.
So bittersweet.
Alone and away from all distractions.
I now recall the first sign; that Thursday when you called me up seven days too late.
I recall the fox hour drives, the rage and the flickering TV. Quite quality time.
Now the light rays carries the memories, preserved by your father.
But I keep wondering for myself; Who took that photo?
